In my neighborhood: A primer on architectural styles in Evansville's historic district

Matt Rowe's lively virtual tour of Evansville's Riverside Historic District includes examples of popular 19th century architectural styles and how to distinguish between them. The city's 1974 Historic Preservation Ordinance prevents exterior changes to these historic structures, but they face new challenges with increased development nearby.

Matthew Rowe has a passion for preservation and brings a unique perspective to the idea of community renaissance. A Newburgh native, Matthew holds a BFA in Art History from the University of Southern Indiana and is a graduate of the Victorian Society’s London School, an organization dedicated to preservation and appreciation of 19th century structures. He is the voice behind WNIN’s popular Downton Abbey talk show, Abbey Chat; frequently engages in public speaking; and has written columns for the Evansville Courier & Press and Evansville Living.
